ABC Pulls Day Break

Monday, December 18th, 2006

According to Michael Ausiello, Day Break has been cancelled and will be replaced by ABC sitcom reruns. While I’m not surprised Day Break didn’t make it, I have to wonder: What’s going to happen to the Lost nuggets?? They were just getting good! Will they still be shown?

More Bai Ling & Jack Flashback Info

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

Kristin at E! Online got the following scoop from Bai Ling on her upcoming three-episode stint on Lost:

We’ve got to talk about all things Lost!
Work was a joy. Everyone in the production was so generous, humble and kind. I felt like I was very welcomed by them! Mostly, I worked with Matthew Fox. The three episodes I have, it’s very deep. My character says, “I can see who people are.”

What can you tell us about your relationship with Jack? What exactly are you going to be doing?
You never know, I might come back. They say on the show they bring people back even when they’re dead. I am a very important character in his life; like, his tattoos have something to do with me.

I know you said he was a great kisser.
It was funny, when we were shooting the scene, we didn’t know each other. He is very handsome and very kind—very much a gentleman. It’s kind of nervous doing those love scenes, but it was really fun, [even though] I was kind of embarrassed. We both had a mutual understanding to just go for it. Sometimes I’m on top of him, sometimes he’s on top of me. I asked him, “Can I do what I want?” and he said, “Sure, you can do whatever you want.” I didn’t want to offend him, but after he said that I went with what I felt.

Can you give us a character name?
Achara, a-c-h—I don’t know how to spell it. It’s a name I had never heard; it was hard for me to pronounce. But, you know, what is funny about my part…she seduces him, and she’s really forward, and she behaves the way she wants, which is really beautiful. It’s very healthy and honest and very powerful, in a way.

So, what’s the backstory?
We’re lovers, but I am kind of a mystery to him. He doesn’t really know me. I don’t allow him to visit me, I don’t allow him to know what I really do—we’re together, we sleep together, we hang out together, we’re lovers. And there is a mystery, he never knows what I do. There is also a psychological twist and betrayal.

Are you contracted to do any episodes outside of the three?
No, they haven’t now, but they are going to see. Hopefully, I come back. I want to, because Lost is a really fun project. I think it is a lot better than the movies I have done. The writing is beautiful, and you really get to know the characters, and not just on the surface, which I really appreciate.

Well, there you go. It’s not as much information as I would like, but I guess we’ll just have to wait until February 7 to find out more.

Lost Nugget 5

Wednesday, December 13th, 2006

Now, this is what I’m talking about! Talk about an intriguing nugget!

Jack wakes up in a cage with a group of people standing outside the cage staring at him. A woman comes up, and Jack recognizes her as the stewardess, Cindy. He says, “How did you end up with them?” She replies, “It’s not as simple as that.” He says, “What are they doing here right now?” And then yells, “What are you doing here???” She says, “We’re here to watch.” Jack says, “If you’ve got something to watch, Cindy, GO WATCH IT!”

Wow. I can’t WAIT to see that episode! Tell me your thoughts!

Jack’s not going anywhere

Wednesday, December 13th, 2006

As I was scrolling through my Tivo this evening, I found Matthew Fox on Live with Regis and Kelly from Monday’s show. Guest cohost Bryant Gumbel asked Fox if he was going to be killed off the show, and he said, “No, I’m not. Well, I mean, that’s possible but… it’s possible down the road… I guess these rumors started because I’ve been doing these movies… but no, I’m on the show.”

So, there we have it. Of course that means absolutely nothing, but at least it’s some formal word on the matter.

Lost, the Bible, and kidneys

Wednesday, December 13th, 2006

What do these have in common? Well, one might think they have absolutely nothing in common, but Ella over at The Tail Section might beg to differ. She writes the following:

I can’t ignore the human organ coincidence of Locke’s kidney transplant and Jack’s choice in puncturing Ben’s kidney during the surgery cliffhanger. Of all the things Jack could have done to buy some time, he went straight for the kidney, of all organs. Do the writers just love kidneys as much as me? Or, could there be some deeper symbolic relevance?

She goes on to explore the Biblical connections to kidneys AND Lost’s storylines and characters. She also discusses Benjamin and Jacob from the Old Testament and their possible connections to Lost’s Ben and Jacob. It’s pretty interesting stuff, so check out the entire article if you’re interested.

Six Creepy Killers

Wednesday, December 13th, 2006

Jonathan Toomey over at TV Squad counts down the six creepiest killers of the year, and a Lost creation makes the list. At number three, we can find Mr. Smoky himself:

The Black Smoke [Lost] - OK, this stuff is just weird. We still have no answer as to what it might actually be. Heck, according to Locke, it’s not even black! He thinks it’s white! All I know is that it had no difficulty picking up Mr. Eko like a big ethereal serpent and beating him senseless into the side of a tree. That is one pissed off cloud.

How much longer is it until this terrible hiatus ends??

You’re the Inspiration

Monday, December 11th, 2006

Entertainment Weekly’s December 1 issue was all about inspirations, and our very own Lost proves to be pretty inspiring to some. One reader wrote that because of Lost, he was inspired to visit airport bars more often. While at an airport bar, he met the woman who would become his future fiancee. So, I just have to ask: What has Lost inspired you to do?

As for myself, Lost has inspired me to write this blog. I’m not sure any other TV show could create enough intrigue to keep me writing about it, the actors, and even the producers. Seriously, I must have a problem, right? So, dear readers, help me feel better. I know I’m not the only one “inspired” (i.e., obssessed) with Lost, am I?

Who’s Jacob??

Friday, December 8th, 2006

Let’s think back to the fall season finale. In that show, we heard Pickett reference someone named Jacob who had a list on which Jack was not. (Read my entire recap of that episode here.) We’ve been speculating for a while now about who this Jacob could be.

Doc Jensen at EW.com has published his theory about who Jacob may be. Read it after the jump. (more…)
