Lost Nugget 10

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Here’s the return of Vincent that I reported on Friday. It’s also further proof that Hurley and Charlie have become comic relief. I hope their storylines aren’t relegated to that role for the rest of the season, though. Anyway, here’s the video courtesy of YouTube.

Lost Finale Spoof

Monday, January 29th, 2007

At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas a few weeks ago, Lost showed a spoof if its own finale. Someone in the audience made a video of it. The quality’s pretty good, but there is an annoying woman laughing pretty loudly in the audience. However, the video’s pretty funny. Check it out.

Charlie, Ana Lucia, and Vincent Scoop

Friday, January 26th, 2007

vincent3.jpgIt’s been so long since I’ve seen Michael and Walt that I honestly forgot all about their dog, Vincent! Didn’t you?

Also, didn’t we hear that Michelle Rodriguez, who played Ana Lucia, was in Hawaii not that long ago, possibly shooting scenes for upcoming episodes? And whatever happened with the Charlie/Sun drama?

Michael Ausiello sheds some light on these questions with quotes from Carlton Cuse himself. According to Ausiello:

Question: Lost scoop with a cherry on top, please?— Kelly Rae
Ausiello: Charlie’s about to get his comeuppance for kidnapping Sun last season. “That is getting resolved in an upcoming episode,” exec producer Carlton Cuse tells me. “Sun finally finds out who actually did that to her. It takes place in another character’s episode, but it becomes an important ancillary part of that episode.” Cuse adds that it’s a “reasonable assumption” that the reveal will cause problems between Charlie and Claire.

Question: Where the frak is Vincent on Lost? Was he on the boat with Michael and Walt?— Casey
Ausiello: No, he’s still on the island, per Cuse, who reveals, “The dog is coming back very soon.” Someone who is not coming back anytime soon, however, is Michelle Rodriguez — despite rumors to the contrary. “She was over in Hawaii visiting friends and all of a sudden there was this furor,” he says of recent Web rumors. “We might have her back at some point, but she’s not currently back on the show.”

I had heard the rumor about Michelle Rodriguez, but I honestly thought she’d be appearing in someone’s flashback. Evidently, that is not the case. Also, what could Vincent’s return mean for the show? And where has he been? Any thoughts?

Lost webisodes coming later

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

Like The Office did this past summer, Lost will begin producing webisodes. These webisodes will be new content focusing on different characters in the cast. It hasn’t been announced which characters will be appearing in the webisodes. It sounds like these webisodes will be independent of the ongoing storylines, so we probably won’t be getting many answers to our lingering questions. I’m guessing this might be similar to The Lost Experience last summer. I’m interested in knowing who will be featured. Production starts in July, so maybe we’ll get more information then. So, will you be watching the webisodes?

What’s in the Feb. 7 episode?

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

Jeff Jensen at EW has seen the February 7 episode, entitled “Not in Portland,” and he gives the following tidbits to tide us over:

1. The first line in the episode is ”Hello,” and it is uttered by one of the most menacing and mysterious characters in the Lost verse.

2. If you want to get a head start on the homework you’ll be doing after watching the episode, investigate the following: Edmund Burke, A Clockwork Orange, and A Brief History of Time.

3. For the second straight episode, there is a fleeting yet conspicuous reference to the name ”Jacob.” This time, the context is decidedly religious.

4. According to recent statements by the producers, and per the timeline that’s been suggested in the show, the events that are currently transpiring in Lost are taking place in late November 2004, possibly very early December 2004. At the end of ”Not In Portland,” a character reveals the exact amount of time that he/she has been on the island. When you do the math, you will get an Estimated Date that comes suspiciously close to the exact date of an infamous, real-world catastrophe. Coincidence?

elizabeth-mitchell.jpgCould the menacing and mysterious character be Juliet or maybe Ben? Any other thoughts? And is he suggesting that they’ve been on the island since September 11?

I honestly don’t know what we’re going to do when the show finally comes back on! We’ve spent so long just speculating about what’s going to happen that we’ll not know what to do when we actually have an episode to discuss…

Lost-Media is reporting that a review clip show is scheduled to air before the brand new episode on Wednesday, February 7. The clip show will begin at 8 P.M. Central, and the new episode will follow in Lost’s new time slot at 9 P.M. Central. I guess we all may need a little review.

What’s it about?

Monday, January 22nd, 2007

Damon Lindelof, co-creator, gives his answer to what Lost is all about in a recent interview. I got this information from The Lost Blog, but the entire article can be found here.

The Lost co-creator also offered his view of what Lost is really about:

This show is about people who are metaphorically lost in their lives, who get on an airplane, and crash on an island, and become physically lost on the planet Earth. And once they are able to metaphorically find themselves in their lives again, they will be able to physically find themselves in the world again. When you look at the entire show, that’s what it will look like. That’s what it’s always been about.

Lost Nugget 9

Friday, January 19th, 2007

Can you believe it’s been nine weeks since the hiatus began??? Here’s the ninth Lost moment. It’s meant to be a little comic relief this time, I believe, but after the last few action-packed nuggets, this one’s a little disappointing. Here it is courtesy of YouTube:

Michael Emerson interview

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

michael-emerson.jpgHere’s a portion of an interview Crave Online did with Michael Emerson who plays Ben Linus. This portion gives us a little insight into Emerson’s perspective on Ben. In an earlier post, I mentioned more of Emerson’s thoughts on Ben’s. If you missed it, you can check it out here.

Crave Online: At the end of season two, Ben said you were the good guys. Are you disappointed Ben has become a villain?

Michael Emerson: Oh, I don’t know that he’s any more a villain than he ever was, to tell you the truth. I’m still holding out hope that when the details of his real mission are revealed, we’re going to think he’s a little more heroic than we have.

Crave Online: I believed him and I’m waiting for that big switcheroo.

Michael Emerson: At the very least, I think he meant what he said. Now, whether his point of view is skewed by his life’s experience or not, I don’t know but I think he believes himself to be a good man and he’s under some pressure. He’s fighting some kind of war. I can’t tell exactly what it is but he has a terrible responsibility I think.

He was also asked what his theory about the show is, and this was his answer:

I have thought right along that Benjamin Linus and his people are rebels or renegades or freedom fighters of some sort and that they are at war with whoever the real powers were that built and control the island. But I don’t have a lot of evidence for that either. That’s just sort of a feeling I have. I do feel like there are worse people out there than the others. I don’t know if worse is the right word. That implies a sort of value judgment. Maybe I should say there are scarier people out there than the others.

The entire interview can be found here.

A Series Finale Date??

Monday, January 15th, 2007

damon.jpg
Okay, I’ve heard this before. The Lost creators/producers have said before that when they began writing the show, there was always an end in sight. They believed and have stated that the show would probably be wrapped up nicely in four to five seasons. I wrote about that in an earlier post, so this isn’t extremely new news. However, several sources are reporting that Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse are close to actually announcing when the end to Lost may come. There are some problems with this, however. ABC owns the show, so technically, ABC says when the show will end, not Lindelof and Cuse. The question becomes, Will ABC want to continue making Lost after Cuse and Lindelof feel that the storylines they have created have run their course? Lindelof states that Lost could run for six or seven seasons, but he believes “the show would be so miserable by that time… So we don’t want to produce those episodes of Lost. And we’re not going to produce those episodes of Lost.”

Honestly, I think this is a great idea. As fans, we are really invested in this show, and we do want all of our questions answered in the best way possible. I would dread watching a show that has clearly run past its prime just because I am waiting for a network to make the most money possible from a show before it gives me the answers I’ve been waiting for. I wish other shows would take this approach. Story first, money second.

Lost Nugget 8

Monday, January 15th, 2007

In this one, we see upcoming guest star Bai Ling and Jack. I’m so intrigued by this upcoming flashback… It’s hard for me to imagine Jack having this fling in Thailand, but that’s exactly what it looks like is happening. So, is this before his marriage or after? I can’t wait to find out! Enjoy this video from YouTube.
