desmond.jpgThis week’s episode features a Desmond flashback. The episode’s titled “Catch-22.” This one looks very interesting!!

3.17 - Catch 22 (Desmond Centered)
Desmond gets a flash of the future and enlists Hurley, Charlie, and Jin to join him on a mysterious hike. Hurley becomes suspicious that Desmond may be acting without everybody’s best interests in mind. Desmond’s vision reference the cable that Sayid, and later Hurley, found in season one. If you’ll recall, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse told BuddyTV that a major reveal was coming up concerning that cable later on. This episode will close with Desmond and the gang finding a mysterious parachutist named Naomi who may have compelling information concerning one of the current island occupants.

(More) Lost Recap - One of Us (April 11)

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

Sorry the last post ended so abruptly. I was having computer issues, and that’s all I had saved before my computer locked up. Hopefully, I can remember what I wrote earlier…

Seeing Ben and Juliet plan the whole gassing, handcuffing, lying incident was so great. And yes, that was a gas mask that Ben gave Juliet. It’s like everything that has happened has been a plan, and I really can’t wait to see what’s going to happen in a week. Ben said he’d see Juliet in a week, so I’m anxious to know what’s in store for the island dwellers.

The look on Sawyer’s face when he saw Kate was so sweet. I just can’t let that go unmentioned. Sawyer is so in love with her, and their hug was so emotionally charged, in my opinion. I hope they don’t screw each other over, which is entirely likely since they’re both shallow con artists.

Also, I loved how Ben was talking to Mikhail. Evidently, Mikhail was so paranoid that he would shoot anything that came near him. Seeing the backstories of the Others is fascinating me. I just want to know what they’re all about!

What were your thoughts? What did you love/hate??

Lost Recap - One of Us (April 11)

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

There has already been some great points made on my previous post, so check that out if you haven’t already. Joshy C., I hope that Jack has some other plan and that he’s not trusting Juliet completely. AmyD, I agree that last night’s episode was the best so far this season, so let’s get on with the recap.

Juliet’s flashback was so interesting. It was so freaky when Ethan just casually asked to take Juliet’s vitals and Richard so nonchalantly mixed some heavy tranquilizers into Juliet’s orange juice. We are dealing with some crazy people here, these Others, and I can’t wait to figure out their entire plan! It’s hard for me to believe that the only thing Richard had to say to finally convince Juliet to drink the orange juice (reminiscent of drink the Kool-aid of Jamestown, by the way) was that she’s meant to do something significant and, “You’ll see things there you’ve never imagined.” Personally, I think I’d need a little more information before I willingly knock myself out to be transported somewhere by strangers. Anyway, she wakes up in the submarine, and when she emerges, Ben greets her.

Why is Juliet on the island? I’m a little unclear. I’m guessing that pregnant women were dying on the island, and they brought Juliet in to figure out why? Or was she brought in to give the women fertility treatments, and then they became pregnant, and then died? Any thoughts? Either way, she figured out a way to keep them alive during the late stages of pregnancy, and that’s why Claire was kidnapped, or so we’ve been led to believe.

More later…

Juliet cannot be trusted!

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

What a great episode last night! I love, love, love seeing how all the pieces are fitting together, and I am more impressed every episode with the producers and the writers. What did you think??

I’ll have more discussion and a recap a little later…

Elizabeth Mitchell Interview

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

There’s a great interview with Elizabeth Mitchell, who plays Juliet, at TV Guide. Here’s a little portion of the interview:

TV Guide: Your character, Juliet, the fertility doc recruited by the Others, gets flashback action in this week’s episode. What can you tell us about the episode?
Elizabeth Mitchell: It’s a nice, revelatory flashback. My first flashback episode wasn’t particularly twisty or turny. This one is definitely twisty and turny.

TV Guide: You’re not just teasing us? We’ll actually get some big answers?
Mitchell: Oh, yeah. So many things we’ve already seen about Juliet and wondered, “Why did she do this? Why is she so cold?” You’ll know exactly why.

TV Guide: Can you tell us more?
Mitchell: We are going to see Juliet much worse for the wear. Anyone who really wanted to mess her up and grind her face in the mud, they’re going to get what they want. And the stuff between me and Ben [Michael Emerson] is pretty heartbreaking.

There’s nothing spoilery in the entire article, so check it out here.

Fan Thoughts on “Left Behind”

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

Here are some really great thoughts from fans dicussing last week’s episode on Pop Candy:

bfmstanford wrote:
One more thought - I wondered why Juliet always brought the food to all the prisoners. Now I think its because Benry wanted the Losties to trust Juliette - sort of the thing where the hostage idetifies with the hostage taker. Now Benry’s plan is coming to fuition (sp?) with Juilette joining the Losties camp.

aries wrote:
I bet Kate is pregnant (Sawyer we know can impregnate) and that is what the others wanted. That is why Juliet is staying close to her. Remember that is Juliets specialty.

BTD Greg wrote: (only a partial quote)
What does Locke mean when he says that they captured him, but “only temporarily? Does he mean he intends to escape, or that they have already told him he’s free to go. This next part is pure speculation, but I suspect that Ben is essentially making a play to humor Locke by moving the Others out of Othersville. Locke doesn’t like their modern, suburban existence, and Ben wants to convince Locke that he’s willing to do what it takes so that Locke can commune with the island for him in order to be healed.

Locke admitted explicitly that he doesn’t want to go home. He also said that the Others told Locke what Kate did. Locke didn’t appear to me to be judgmental about this fact—he probably believes that the island has provided Kate with a blank slate, just as it did for him.

This episode has a rapture, of sorts, like the “Left Behind series of Christian novels. The Others and the “good people have “disappeared, leaving everyone else behind to suffer tribulations.

That is such good stuff! There are many more here, if you’d like to check them out. It is possible that Kate is pregnant, and that would explain Juliet’s interest in Kate particularly. And I hadn’t thought of the Left Behind book series. What a great observation!

Nikki and Paulo - Gone Forever?

Friday, April 6th, 2007

TV Guide gives a little insight into the episode that confused a lot of us:

While viewers have questioned whether the duo is actually done for, producers insist Nikki and Paolo won’t dig their way out of this one. In fact, Santoro is already busy with film commitments in his native Brazil, and Sanchez is shooting an ABC pilot, Football Wives, which is under consideration for the network’s fall schedule.

As for naysayers’ claim that the episode was “filler,” Cuse hints that Nikki and Paolo’s fates may be a sign of what’s to come: “In the progression that started with Eko’s death [earlier this season], there’s a sense that the island ultimately is collecting the souls of people who may not be redeemable.”

Are you listening, Others?

So, it sounds like they won’t be back. I’m actually surprised. I just knew that Nikki and Paulo had a bigger role to play later on in the show. I can’t believe the producers really had no better plan. What are you thoughts?

Lost Recap - Left Behind (April 4)

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

There quite a bit of information in this episode and a little comic relief, so I’ll start the discussion character-by-character.

Locke - Has he joined the Others? He just came right out and told Kate that he did not want to go home and that he was going with “them.” What is his deal?? Kate keeps asking him if he’s brainwashed, but he honestly appears very logical and rational. What could be going on??

Juliet - So, Juliet was gassed by her own people (so she says) and “left behind.” So, her first thought is to handcuff herself to Kate, drag her out into the woods, pretend to be passed out, and really pretend to be scared of the monster as if she was seeing it for the first time?? I’m with you, Joshy C. I do not trust Juliet AT ALL. I was so mad at myself for believing that she was really unaware of the monster! I couldn’t believe it when she pulled out the handcuff key and went to the key pad on the fence post. About the monster she said, “I don’t know what it is, but I know it doesn’t like our fences.” Yeah, right.

Kate - She’s such a warrior. I mean, she dislocated Juliet’s shoulder! It was such a great fight, by the way. Seeing Kate and Cassidy interact in Kate’s flashback was really interesting. And it broke my heart when Kate’s mother told her she’d turn her in if she ever saw her again.

Sawyer - How cute was he trying to “make nice” with everyone? Telling Claire that Aaron was “less wrinkly” was priceless. But it looks like Sawyer won’t have to be the leader for long because Jack’s coming back next week.

And what about Jack? How can he trust Juliet so much? Sure, it looks like the Others left her behind, but I think there’s more to this story. And I know that Kate “broke his heart,” but Jack should have better judgment. I’m disappointed with him.

Well, what did you think? What were your favorite scenes? What was with the monster flashing a bright light? Talk to me!

“Sucks for you, dude.”

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

Sawyer as the new leader? It’s a little unbelievable, but it was a nice comic contrast to the intensity of the scenes with Kate and Juliet. Wow, those two could have killed each other!

I thought it was a great show. It was packed full of information again. I’ll have more dicussion later, but do you have any initial thoughts on the show?

Another Lost Clip Show

Wednesday, April 4th, 2007

On May 23, we’ll be able to watch another clip show. I guess the producers aren’t counting these as technical reruns, since we will still get a new episode. The last one was done very well, though, so I’m looking forward to this one. It helps me remember things I may have forgotten. The show is scheduled to air in the Central time zone from 7-8 PM. Mark your calendars!

“The very heart of the show”

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007

locke1.jpgWhat is? Who is? Well, here’s one answer for you from Lost-Media:

Executive producer Carlton Cuse added this, with all the finality he could muster: “The character of John Locke is just the very heart of the show.”

This quote comes from an excellent article on John Locke and his importance to the show. As fans, we’ve been wondering what is going on with Locke, what his role is supposed to be on the show. This portion responds to those questions:

As the creators dreamed up Locke, Lindelof couldn’t help but think of the Charles Atlas comic book ads he used to see when he was a child: the scrawny kid on the beach who gets sand kicked in his face by a bully, then starts weightlifting and whacks the bully in the face when he returns.

“I think that’s basically who John Locke is,” Lindelof said. “We keep showing you stories about him making bad decisions and being abused and conned and suckered, all because he wants to be loved. Now, he’s on the island, he’s not preoccupied with needing to be loved anymore. He just wants to know his place in the world, which I think is something Terry is also experiencing as a human being.”

O’Quinn acknowledges that his fans’ concerns that Locke was being emasculated troubled him because he felt he had never before had the chance to play a “person of strength and clarity, but with a lot of dimension.”

The entire article is definitely worth reading, so check it out here.

evangeline1.jpgHere’s what we have to look forward to in Wednesday’s episode called “Left Behind”:

Episode S3E15 - Left Behind (Air Date: 4th April 2007)
Flashbacks: Kate

What we know
After discovering that one of her own has betrayed her to “The Others,” Kate is left to fend for herself in the jungle with Juliet. Meanwhile, Hurley warns Sawyer to change his selfish ways and make amends with his fellow survivors or he may face a vote of banishment, on “Lost,”

Guest starring are Kim Dickens as Cassidy, Beth Broderick as Diane, Fredric Lane as the Marshall, Andrew Meader as Johnny, Bill Ogilvie as man and Shawn Lathrop as federal agent.

Personally, I love Kate flashbacks. I’m surprised every time by how bad she really can be. If you need more spoilers about this episode and future episodes, click here for SpoilerFix.
