Lost Season 4 Episode 5 The Constant

Friday, February 29th, 2008

vlcsnap_00047.jpg

As it is, Lost episodes are guaranteed to boggle the mind, so we’re keeping recaps here at Watching Lost plain, simple and hopefully easier to follow.

For the fifth episode of Season 4, there are no flash forwards or flash backs. It doesn’t even tell us if Desmond is indeed one of the Oceanic 6. Instead, we see how Desmond’s mind-traveling, as quickly as one’s eyes would blink.

Hold on a minute…I think my brain just exploded!

pict_2008_02_28_10_36_1110.jpg

I’m supposed to be writing a recap to Lost’s latest episode but I think I’m also having a nosebleed and my brain is really fried. What the hell did I just watch? Best episode ever!!!! I’m still very much disoriented like Desmond, and yet I was very, very entertained. That was some piece of wicked writing, that episode!

Be back in a few to gather my thoughts…

Lost Episode Preview: The Constant

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

The fifth episode to Season 4 confirms that the chopper has indeed reached the freighter. It’s also a Desmond-centric episode, with an exploration of how Desmond ended up in prison. Accordingly, the show producers have also indicated this episode will deal with the time travel aspect of the story.

Episode Title: The Constant
Episode Synopsis: Sayid and Desmond hit a bit of turbulence on the way to the freighter, which causes Desmond to experience some unexpected side effects.
Guest starring: Jeremy Davies as Daniel Faraday, Rebecca Mader as Charlotte, Jeff Fahey as Frank Lapidus, Alan Dale as Charles Widmore, Sonya Walger as Penelope “Penny” Widmore, Graham McTavish as sergeant, Darren Keefe as Billy, Edward Conery as auctioneer, Marc Vann as doctor, Fisher Stevens as George Minkowski, Kevin Durand as Keamy and Anthony Azizi as Omar.

Lost Memorable Quotes from Eggtown

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

2.jpgBALIFF: Katharine Anne Austen, you are charged with fraud, arson, assault on a federal officer, assault with a deadly weapon, grand larceny, grand theft auto, and murder in the first degree. Mrs. Austen, how do you plead?
KATE: Not guilty.

KATE: You got blood…
LOCKE: I just killed a chicken. What can I do for you?
KATE: I want to talk to Miles. Where are you keeping him?
LOCKE: Why do you need to talk to him?
KATE: It’s personal.
LOCKE: No.
KATE: And what gives you the right to decide whether or not–
LOCKE: You may think this is a democracy, Kate, because of the way Jack ran things, but this is not a democracy.
KATE: Well, I guess that makes it a dictatorship.
LOCKE: If I was a dictator, I would just shoot you, and go about my day. Dinner’s at six if you’re hungry.

Lost Kubrick Toys on Pre-Order

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

I’m not exactly mad about Lost action figures or any TV character toys for that matter, but I’m sure there are a lot of you who would enjoy these:

2290900451_70b1347d43.jpg

It’s a 60mm figure of the following characters:

  • LOCKE
  • JACK
  • KATE
  • SAWYER
  • SAYID
  • CHARLIE
  • HURLEY

Sadly no Ben nor Juliet! And Kate looks freakishly mannish, I was figuring out who the hell did I miss from the line-up. The set is sold in Japan for about $87 (or 9,360 YEN) and will be released in August. The site also sells other Lost toys and memorabilia, including the island’s polar bear and a 1/6 scale of Jack in his suit and tie. | Via

Lost: The Economist Deleted Scenes

Monday, February 25th, 2008

Apparently, there were a couple of things in The Economist (Episode 3, Season 4) which did not make it to the final cut, including a scene with Miles, Kate and Sayid at the perimeter fence:

This blog has a complete transcript of that scene and a few other observations.

Lost Scoop Spilled by Show’s Producers

250px_Season4promo.jpg

This is rather a belated report but I’m putting it up anyway, in case you haven’t been able to keep tabs of this last week. It’s an interview EW’s Doc Jensen conducted with Lost Producers, Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof. I have to say, I didn’t read all the way through because I would like my Lost experience the least bit spoiler free (which is sometimes hard to do, since I’m blogging about it!).Anyway, here are some excerpts from that interview:

Lost Season 4 Episode 4 Eggtown

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

Untitled_2.jpgFor the first time in three seasons, I loved the Kate-centric episode so much, it truly has moved me to tears. It hit close to me and was so well-executed.

Kate’s story opens with a scene from the barracks. Locke is serving breakfast for Ben, whom he has locked away in the basement. Although Ben seems to be the weaker person here, he is so good at getting to Locke and starts by telling him that Locke has no idea what to do anymore and that he’s “more lost than he’s ever been”. Upset by what Ben just said, Locke leaves him and throws away his breakfast at the wall.

Upstairs, Sawyer tells Kate he is welcome to bunk with him and mentions something about Kate’s possible pregnancy bugging her. But Kate would hear none of it and tells Sawyer to go back to his house.

While at the beach, as Sun and Jin make plans for their future once they leave the island, Jack and Juliet arrive with Daniel and Charlotte and told everyone Desmond and Sayid are on the chopper back to the freighter. Sun notices Kate is gone and asks Jack. He only told her Kate has decided to stay with Locke.

Kate is seeking Locke’s permission to see Miles but Locked refuses, prompting Kate to say it’s as if there’s a dictatorship over at Team Locke. When she couldn’t get his permission, Kate tries to trick Hurley into telling her where Miles is locked up, but promises he won’t let him go. All Kate wanted to ask Miles was if he knows who she is and what she has done off the island. Miles promised her he would tell what he knows provided she gives him one minute with Ben.

Kate tells Sawyer this and hatches the plan to bring Miles at the basement to Ben. While there, Miles tells Ben he is willing to lie to his boss if Ben is willing to pay him $3.2 Million. When his minute was up, Kate leads him outside and now demands to tell her what he knows about her. So, Miles tells her that she is still wanted by the FBI for the crimes she has committed.

All the while Sawyer was with Locke and was playing backgammon with him. Eventually, he confesses to Kate’s plans and they reach them just in time and Locke is clearly mad at Kate for this. Later on, he tells her he wants her gone by the morning, but not before asking her what the whole Ben and Miles businesses was about.

3.jpgKate goes to Sawyer’s house and lets him know Locke is asking her to leave. Sawyer lets her stay the night in bed with him. But apparently nothing has happened. Sawyer again insisted this was probably because of the pregnancy, but Kate is sure she is not with child. An argument takes place between them and Sawyer tells Kate that she will surely come around after a week, when she finds something to be pissed at Jack.

Meanwhile, Locke has Miles tied and locked up again. And worse, he’s got a live grenade in between his mouth, which Locke shoved in him. The only thing that’s stopping the grenade from explosing is if Miles grits his teeth tightly at it.

Back at the beach, Jack has been trying to reach the freighter through the satellite phone and Charlotte helps him by dialling the emergency number. Regina answers this but was surprised to learn the chopper was not in the island. Now, no one knows what happened to Desmond, Sayid and Frank.

Kate.jpgLost’s 4th episode of the season is supposedly centered on Kate and may also involve her relationship with Sawyer, as show in the teaser clips. It seems these two are getting it on. Again!

Episode 4.02
Episode Title: Eggtown
Synopsis: Kate’s need to get information out of the hostage may jeopardize her standing with Locke — as well as with Sawyer.

Here’s a longer clip:

And more spoilers after the jump…

Lost: Memorable Quotes from The Economist

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

FRANK: We burned a lot of fuel coming in, it can’t carry much weight. I’ll take three of you.
MILES: In case you zoned out while you were tweezing your goatee, one of these yahoos took Charlotte prisoner.
SAYID: I can bring her back. Safely. And if I do, will you take me to the ship.
FRANK: Absolutely. You bring Charlotte back safe, and I will get you off this island.

SAWYER: You ready to give us the name, Gizmo?
LOCKE: He’s not going to tell you who the spy is on their boat, James.
SAWYER: Yeah, why not?
LOCKE: Because that’s the only thing keeping him alive.
SAWYER: Well here’s an idea: why don’t we take a gun, point it to his big toe and send that little piggy to the market. And if he still doesn’t want to tell us, move on to the roast beef. Why don’t we do that?
LOCKE: Because then we’d have to carry him.

JACK: You should go with them, Kate.
KATE: Are you serious?
JACK: Yeah.
fly.jpg KATE: What, don’t you trust Sayid?
JACK: I don’t trust Locke.
KATE: So what’s preventing him from doing to me what he did to Naomi?
JACK: Sawyer won’t let him.

FRANK: Hey, this guy Sayid – where’s he from?
JACK: Iraq.
FRANK: Iraq? He’s just gonna go and work everything out? What was he, a diplomat?
JACK: No. No, he was a torturer.

Lost: Michael Emerson on The View (Feb 14)

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

I was kicking myself for missing this one but thank to Winnie from The View for the recaps (some excerpts)

lost.s4.1.ben.jpgPeople have been having difficulty separating him from his character. In Waikiki where he lives when the show is filming, he kept running into a couple from New Zealand and the woman said that she wouldn’t watch the show anymore because his character was so dark. He was on subway recently and someone stood up and said, “That is that guy! That is that scary guy from TV!” He said that everyone turned to stare and the preacher woman on the train started to make him the subject of her sermon.

Check WatchingTheView for a daily rundown. By the way, the site also mentions Terry O’ Quinn (Locke) will be chatting with the women of The View, Tuesday, Feb 22.

As for the actual video to Michael Emerson’s interview, here it is:

Lost: Evangeline Lilly on Late Late Show (Feb 14)

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

I don’t get to watch Craig Ferguson’s Late Late Show, so thanks to whoever uploaded this video with Evangeline Lilly and her valentine dress (which looks so cute on her!). She talks about Valentine’s celebration (of course), Spam Day in Hawaii and a Lumberjack clip she watched as a kid in Canada. Fun interview!

Lost: Rebecca Mader thanks Kristen Bell for passing on Charlotte

Monday, February 18th, 2008

rebecca_mader2.jpgWhy do I get the feeling I’m going to love Charlotte as much as I did Juliet? I’ve actually seen Rebecca on a previous TV show (Justice) but wasn’t so much impressed by her. This time, it’s different as I like her role on Lost a whole lot better.

She recently talked to TV Guide about her role…

There was a bit of a media frenzy over the summer surrounding the casting of your role — due, in large part, to Kristen Bell turning it down. Did you follow all that?
Mader: [Laughs] I didn’t know when I was going through the whole audition process. It wasn’t until after I got the job that I heard those rumors. Friends of mine would say, “Kristen Bell was up for your part and turned it down.” And I’m like, “Did she?”

Interview: Elizabeth Mitchell Is Anything But Lost

GW220H150.jpgBefore anything else, TV Guide is reporting that we’re to expect some steamy scenes with Juliet on Lost up ahead. And nope, I don’t mean she’s gonna be in a sauna room somewhere. I meant the obvious — Juliet’s going to have sex. This episode would be airing March 6, and I will be bringing some previews and spoilers of that on that week.
