Lost: Valentine Night’s Ratings

Monday, February 18th, 2008

Lost took a bit of a dive in the ratings last Thursday, when it looked like its target audience were mostly out celebrating Valentine’s day. Either that, or those who tuned to watch the premiere a couple of weeks ago didn’t stay around longer than three episodes.

And here was last week’s standing:

ben_1.jpg1. “Lost (ABC) 13.62m
2. “Survivor: Micronesia (CBS) 13.12m
3. “Deal or No Deal (NBC) 12.04m
4. “CSI (Repeat) (CBS) 10.96m
5. “Without a Trace (Repeat) (CBS) 9.63m
6. “Celebrity Apprentice (NBC) 9.09m
7. “Eli Stone (ABC) 7.82m
8. “Lost (Repeat) (ABC) 6.21m
9. “Lipstick Jungle (NBC) 6.13m
10. “The 39th Annual Image Awards (8-10) (FOX) 3.90m
11. “Smallville (CW) 3.67m
12. “Supernatural (CW) 2.94m

Per Nielsen’s, here’s Lost weekly numbers so far:

  • January 31st (Premiere) - 16.07m
  • February 7th - 15.06m down by 6.29% from last week

Lost Season 4 Episode 3 The Economist

Friday, February 15th, 2008

There something about Sayid-centric episodes that don’t seem to hook me in as much as the rest. I have always felt his flashbacks (and in this episode’s case, flash forwards) were dragging at times. But while this episode was the weakest among the three stories already aired, I can’t deny I loved the last part of it.

The Economist opens with Sayid studying the remains of Naomi, while, a few feet away, Miles and Jack are thinking about how they can rescue Charlotte from Team Locke. Sayid notices Naomi’s bracelet and removes it from her wrist. Inscribed on it are the words: “N, I’ll always be with you. R.G” Sayid then says to Miles and Frank he can bring Charlotte back, provided he gets to ride on the chopper back to the boat. For this operation, Miles joins Sayid, and Jack suggested Kate come with them, too.

dan.jpgWhile the were gone, Daniel conducts some tests, which Frank tells Jack, he does a lot on the boat going to the island. Daniel has a tripod with what looks like a beacon. There’s also a clock attached to it. Using Frank’s phone, Daniel calls a Regina and asks her to send a payload. Regina begins the countdown but the payload does not arrive as expected. Rather, this was delayed some 30 or so minutes later. Daniel thinks this was “beyond weird”.

Meanwhile, Sayid, Miles and Kate reach the barracks where The Others used to reside. They find Hurley tied up and locked inside a closet and Hurley tells them Team Locke has left him behind when he suggested they let Charlotte go. Hurley tells the three, he thinks the rest of the Losties are heading towards Ben’s house. They snooped around the area and Sayid finds a secret room inside Ben’s house. It has a number of passports (all Ben’s) and some money or notes in different currency (and probably in different years). Before they could check the area further, Sayid, Miles and Kate are cornered by Team Locke. Hurley suddenly appears and apologizes for lying.

two.jpgKate is in Ben’s room with Sawyer to stand as guard. Sawyer wonders if she really thinks the rescuers will be able to get them out of the island. She wonders why Sawyer doesn’t want to go home and he sort of tells her his life is better where they are. Miles is whisked off somewhere, too, while Sayid is brought to the game room, where Ben is also locked up. Locke apologizes to Sayid for the deception, but explains it was a precaution since Locke doesn’t believe in the freighter crew. Sayid tells him he believes the same, but it was necessary to bring Charlotte to them so that he could find out more. Locke tells Sayid about Ben’s man on the boat but Ben refuses to say anything more. Sayid trades Miles for Charlotte from Locke.

Lost Season 4 Revisions

Thursday, February 14th, 2008

losties_planning_attack_1.jpgABC is moving Lost to a new time slot beginning April. Currently, the show is sitting on the time slot previously occupied by Grey’s Anatomy. The latter is expected to return after a strike-imposed hiatus this April. Lost’s new time slot would be Thursdays at 10 PM, immediately following new episodes of Grey’s Anatomy.

ABC’s new Thursday line-up would be the powerhouse combination of Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy and Lost. Sources say, this is one of the best programming the network has come up with.

Producer Carlton Cruse has also expressed there will be a six episode arc to close the season. EW is reporting the show will take a break in March, to return by April.

Lost: Evangeline Lilly TV Interviews (Feb 12 and 13)

Thursday, February 14th, 2008

Gorgeous Evangeline Lilly made the TV rounds early this week, to appear on the Letterman (12th) show and on Regis and Kelly (13th).

On Letterman, she talked about planning a trip to China immediately after the strike and met some hitches with her visa, so she ends up flying to Japan. “I’m used to the idea the whole world loves us and wants us to be around”, she kids. David has complimented on her accurate pronunciation of Japanese names and words. While in Japan, she learned a few Japanese phrases, but says she’s more fluent in French (she’s Canadian, understandably) and knows a bit of Spanish, too. She also talks about her being allergic to a lot of stuff in Hawaii. Her interview with Letterman was very animated. Evangeline Lilly is like a ray of sunshine. Watch it:

On Regis & Kelly, Evangeline Lilly (in a smashing dress and shoes!) also talked about her Japan trip and working at Lost. Click on this image for the link to the video:

Locke’s hostage may be the key to getting off the island, so Sayid and Kate go in search of their fellow castaway in an attempt to negotiate a peaceful deal.

ABC has been airing the teasers on television. In case you missed it, we’ve got the video:

Evidently, aside from finding out who is the latest member of the Oceanic 6, this episode is one you shouldn’t miss for it’s great ending. Spoiler sites say, it would make you wanna curse at your TV set again. Naveen Andrews in earlier interviews also said this episode should define who is clearly with whom and some form of power struggle is about to take place, as stated in these spoilers (SPOILER ALERT!):

Lost: Memorable Quotes from Confirmed Dead

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

LOCKE: Let’s go.
SAWYER: Why are you going East? Thought you said the Barracks were due South.
LOCKE: Because, James, we have to make a little detour first.
SAWYER: Detour to what?
LOCKE: There’s a cabin I have to go to.
HURLEY: I think the cabin was back that way.
LOCKE: What did you say Hugo?
HURLEY: I er, thought you were talking about the airplane cabin.
SAWYER: Why are we wasting our time going to some shack anyway?
LOCKE: Because we’re supposed to.
SAWYER: Right. Like you were supposed to throw a knife into that Naomi chick’s back.
LOCKE: Ahuh.
SAWYER: You mind telling us who you’re getting your orders from, Colonel Kurtz?
LOCKE: I got it from Walt.

JULIET: Jack still isn’t back. Anything?
SAYID: No. But its a big Island. The freighter could be approaching from the other side.
JULIET: That’s the spirit.
SAYID: Juliet, you lived amongst the Others, why would Ben say the people coming here intend to do us harm?
JULIET: Because he’s a liar. And he’s trying to scare us, that’s what Ben does. Or, because the people coming here intend to do us harm.

JACK: Hey, Daniel. Why did you bring the gun?
DAN: Err, as a precaution.
JACK: Precaution against what?
DAN: Okay, see rescuing you and your people…can’t really say its our primary objective.

110897_118_pre.jpgSAWYER: What the hell do you mean you saw Walt? In a dream?
LOCKE: No dream, it was Walt. Only, taller.
SAWYER: Taller? What like a giant? OK, what exactly did Walt tell you?
LOCKE: He said I had work to do. That I had to stop this woman, Naomi, from bringing the rest of her people here.
SAWYER: What you didn’t ask any follow-up questions?
LOCKE: Ben had shot me and left me for dead, Walt saved my life, so I pretty much took him at his word.
SAWYER: He shot you? Yet here you are fit as a fiddle tromping through the jungle.
LOCKE: The bullet went in one side, came out the other. I’d probably be dead if I still had a kidney there.

BEN: Mind if I ask you a question, James?
SAWYER: Yeah I do.
BEN: Why’d you leave Kate behind?
SAWYER: Wasting your time, Yoda.

Lost: What happens post strike?

Monday, February 11th, 2008

1.jpgA lot of people in Hollywood are overjoyed of the fact that the strike is already over. And I’m most certain a lot of TV fans are joining them in the celebration. Showrunners are expected to be back to work this Monday, with the writers following them by Wednesday. The answer to when the strike will be over is finally resolved. The next most important question would have to be — when do we see new episodes on TV again?

Lost has six episodes remaining —- signed, sealed and delivered over the next couple of weeks. The show has yet to finish eight more, to deliver the planned 16 episodes of the season. If production resumes by next week, we should be watching the series uninterrupted by late March. Essentially, what that means is the airing of the episodes remains unaffected by the strike.

What about your other favorite shows? This is a good place to check, as well as over here.

Lost: A detailed explanation to the time travel theory

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

Mother of all theories, my head hurts from reading this one from the Time Loop Theory website! Whew! The stipulations they have explained are very easy to follow, but difficult to digest…in the brain.

Some of the theories they’ve come up with are these —

Lost Season 4 Episode 2 Confirmed Dead

Friday, February 8th, 2008

9.jpgAs much as I loved the episode tonight, I had to really check my watch for the time…did an hour of TV watching really just went by? I felt the episode owed me some more. I cannot wait for next week! I welcome the introduction of the four new characters. No one knows who they are yet; if they are with the good guys or with the bad guys. But I can tell you now — I love them all.

The episode opens with a news report. Oceanic 815 has been found in the bottom of the Sundra Trench, somewhere in Bali, with all the passengers confirmed dead.

NEW CHARACTERS FLASHBACK

7.jpg6.jpg
4.jpg3.jpg

Daniel Faraday is crying as he is watching the news on television. His companion asks what he’s crying for and Daniel replies that he has no idea.

Charlotte Lewis, an archaeologist, is in Tunisia, when she picks up a local newspaper detailing the story of Flight 815’s recovery. Her companion wonders why she is reading every single paper on it. At her digging site, she finds bones of polar bear…when Tunisia is a desert land. She also found a collar with the logo of Dharma Initiative.

Miles Straume appears to be a ghostbuster who has just listened to the news of the recovery before heading to his next house call — a grandmother who wants to find peace for her murdered grandchild. We see that Miles’ abilities are real, he can communicate with the dead.

Frank Lapidus is watching television, when he saw the clip of the ill-fated plane’s pilot, who was a colleague of his. He calls Oceanic hotline saying he’s got information. Frank believes that the dead body shown on TV was not his friend. And he was supposed to be the one flying that plane that day.

Naomi (from Season 3’s finale) and Matthew Abbadon (who appeared in last week’s episode) are the people responsible for pooling these four characters. Naomi doesn’t believe they have the proper training, as this is supposedly a dangerous mission, especially if there are survivors. But Abbadon tells her they are there for specific reasons and that he is certain no one survived from the crash.

They label Daniel a headcase, Frank a drunk, Miles a ghostbuster. They call Charlotte the anthropologist.

Lost: Dominic Monaghan on Pet

Friday, February 8th, 2008

dominpet.JPG With his limited exposure on Lost this season (I’m certain it will not be the last we’ll see of him in last week’s episode), Dominic Monaghan has signed on to star in Edna McCallion’s psychological thriller, Pet. He will play the role of an obsessed person who hostages her old high school crush at his place of work (animal shelter). Things and twists will unravel as his character will realize his former flame is not what he thought she would be.

Pet’s shooting schedule starts in a couple of months.

Monaghan will also be seen on the big screen in the zombie flick, I Sell the Dead.

Lost: Scans from the Lost Magazine Issue 15

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

JKS_1.jpg

JKS3.jpgJKS2.jpgI haven’t actually seen any copies from any of the issue of the magazine. But apparently, it has about fifteen issued by now and these scans are from that latest issues.

Are you a subscriber of the official Lost Magazine? If not, this is one online store where you can buy one, or enroll for subscriptions. I’m told that they are also available on Amazon and on E-bay (especially if you are looking for back issues.)

If you would like to see more of those scanned pages from the latest issue, I saw loads of it from ODI.
