Video: Matthew Fox at the Comic Con and a Lost Sawyer-Kate Spoiler
Monday, July 28th, 2008Here are more dish for Lost Season 5 courtesy of Kristin from E!
Watch the video of Matthew Fox with some minor spoilers and after the cut, there are details about the fate of Kate and Sawyer, that Kristin says is incredibly confusing…and I’d have to agree.
Lost at the Comic Con 2008
Sunday, July 27th, 2008
The Lost Panel at the Comic Con was attended by Executive producers Carlton Cuse and David Lindelof, who were also part of the Showrunners Panel earlier that weekend.
Lost opened with video clips, apparently never before seen on the show — one was about the plane crash survivors, and another was the DVD extra features.
Then someone arrived who is supposedly the head of the Dharma Initiative, Dr. Marvin Candle. The guy was in character, acting and speaking as if he was actually recruiting at that event…and well, they really were. Then Dr. Candle called up five people who passed the recruitment process from the audience and were brought back stage. One of them was probably an actor who showed footage of what happened to them at the back.
Matthew Fox makes a surprise appearance during the Q & A and here are some of the answers to the questions fielded:

Video: Dharma Recruitment at the Comic Con 2008
Friday, July 25th, 2008What was it like to be recruited to the Dharma Initiative?
“Yesterday, I swing by Dharma’s booth on the Convention Center’s Exhibit Hall Floor and met a very pleasant woman named Jackie (just Jackie), who explained what they’re doing. I then spoke to Isabel Lim, a San Diego resident who had just completed her assessment and gotten approval to join Dharma. Watch the video below to find out what they said. I am hoping to get my own assessment sometime in the next couple of days. Hopefully I’ll also pass muster and be well on my way to wearing my very own fashionabe Dharma jumpsuit.” Liz & Jen at the Comic Con
Lost Videos: Season 4 DVD Bloopers
Friday, July 25th, 2008Lost: A G4 Special
Thursday, July 24th, 2008
Cable network G4 is running a special program on Lost this coming Friday, July 25 at 10 PM.
Lost: A G4 Special will feature secrets and theories by television writers Matt Mitovich of TV Guide, Entertainment Weekly’s Jeff “Doc” Jensen and MediaWeek’s Marc Berman.
I wish I have a way to watch this. Our cable provider only has selected G4 programs airing and I am not sure if this one makes it on air.
It would have been something I’d watch considering the obvious lack of Lost news and updates lately, since the show is still on hiatus.

Watching Lost actors in Other Roles
Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008I was ill for most of the weekend and since I couldn’t catch up on work, I thought I could catch up on watching movies. But I couldn’t get myself to stay awake. really. For the most part, ended up dozing off more than watching. I think I was just too darn weak and fatigued.
Coincidentally though, the movies I was catching up on? They mostly had actors from Lost. I didn’t plan on having this though.
I caught Frequency on cable. I was very surprised to see a dark-haired Elizabeth Mitchell.
I watched Saw on DVD for the first time. I actually got this DVD for Michael Emerson, but then I was equally delighted to find Ken Leung in it, too.
Incidentally, I caught the Asian Awards on TV that weekend also. Ken, Naveen Andrews, Daniel Dae Kim and Yunjin Kim were nominated for TV acting awards but none of them
won. Yunjin Kim, with that heartbreaking scream in last season’s finale, lost to Lindsay Price (Lipstick Jungle) for the actress award.
I also had Vantage Point on DVD, which has just been released on video. Although, I originally saw the film when it ran in theaters so I know how the story went already.
So, there it is…while I was out sick and confined to the bed, their movies, or what little I saw of it, were the ones that kept me company.
Michael Emerson “Yes, Mom. I was nominated!”
Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008This short video is so endearing.
Michael Emerson has had his phone ringing non-stop after it was announced that he was nominated for Emmy Best Supporting Actor. During the interview, he gets a call from his mother who congratulates him for the show’s nomination (Best Drama) but she didn’t realize that he also got an acting nomination for playing Ben on the show. He had to emphasize this to her and calls the moment, “classic mom”. Aaww.

Lost Recruits at Comic Con
Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008Don’t be surprised to find some people bringing their resumes with them when you attend the ComicCon next weekend. It is all part of the Lost hysteria and fans are actually encouraged to participate in what is a recruitment process by Octagon Global Recruiting. Earlier, ads for this ran during the Season 4 of the show last May. Immediately after seeing the advertisement, many fans did check the website and decided to register.
Per Variety:
Fans who registered their email addresses at the Octagon website received an email last month touting the faux firm’s upcoming Comic-Con appearance.
Michael Benson, exec VP of ABC Marketing, says the campaign is aimed at keeping current fans interested until the show’s February return, and to catch the eye of people who hadn’t watched before. “We were trying to play it like it was real and not break that fourth wall,” Benson says.
While Benson is keeping mum about what will be revealed at Comic-Con, the Octagon email did have an intriguing bonus hook: It was cc’d to a Mr. Hans Van Eeghen, who may or may not have something to do with the ever-broadening “Lost” universe.

Lost Producers Talk Season 5 at the TCA
Monday, July 21st, 2008Spoken at the Television Critics Association event last Thursday, by Lost producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse —
- “[We're excited to be] going into Season 5 and the fact that people are still asking [what's to come] is extraordinary. We’re very grateful [to ABC] for working out an end date with us. We know exactly how much time we have left to tell our story. I think that end date completely changed our storytelling approach.”
- “[The strike was] one of the greatest things; having 100 days where we weren’t thinking about Lost. We came back after 100 days sort of rested and energized. So I think for us doing the last six hours of the show was very exciting because we hadn’t used every idea we had and we weren’t fatigued.”
- “[The strike helped because] usually we wouldn’t have had audience feedback [on the episodes that already aired]. We actually got some feedback, from critics, from our wives. We were allowed to course-correct. We won’t have the luxury of that [in season five]. We’ll be done writing [the season] by February and the show will have premiered shortly before, which quite frankly scares the s**t out of us.”
- “Obviously, the turn that is happening with the character of the island is the island is kind of drawing them back. Ben’s made it clear that they have to go back. We’re excited about the journey of how those six return to the island or contemplate returning to the island.”
- “You have to break your characters up. You have to create conflicts where they’re either geographically or emotionally separate. You can’t play that too long or the audience gets understandably frustrated. We have that intensely in mind as we proceed. Hopefully it won’t be a delayed gratification.”
- “There will be more of Daniel Dae Kim in the series in some form. [Daniel Dae Kim] opened the door not just for ethnically diverse casting but people from all over the world. At the same time, the show in many ways has to be an equal opportunity murderer. If a character’s time is up on the show you can’t say, ‘Let’s stretch their time out until the end of Season 6,’ because he’s the only Korean-American hero.”
- “We killed a lot of white people [on Lost]! I can almost guarantee that we will kill more white people this season.”
- “This obviously is a tricky year for us. It’s like The Two Towers. This is the year that links us from the past to the final season.”
- “We’ve known what we wanted to do there for a long time. The challenge we have is how to we make this [coming] season exciting and engaging and put us in a place where people are excited about the last season.”
