Is Charlie Returning on Lost?

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

lost_dominic_monaghan I don’t know about you, but as much as he one of the least popular characters of the series, I do want to see Charlie back again. Kristin from E! Online earlier reported on its possibility —

  • Dom tells me he recently had lunch with Damon and they talked about just that. He tells me, “As we were paying the bill, I said, ‘Let’s talk about Charlie.’ And we had a five-minute, very accelerated conversation where I said, this is how I would feel about coming back. These are the things that I really like about Charlie and ideas for Charlie. And Damon said, ‘OK, that’s great. I’ll go away and I’ll chew on that.’ Damon has to deal with not only the arc in the story for the entire show but also all the characters. He might not have space for me to come back, but if there is space, then we talked about how it would work.”
  • Besides killer aviator sunglasses, what would Dom like to see happen in Charlie’s return? He says of Charlie’s legendary death scene, “I’d always been very complimentary toward Damon’s writing in that moment, in the sense that he really gave Charlie a great preciousness and dealt with him with dignity, you know. I think other people have died in ways that maybe weren’t quite as dignified. Charlie was really taken care of and I really appreciated that…But really, if [the return were] not something as precious as Charlie’s arc in his death, then I might not do it. I wouldn’t come back for just a little hello in the background. It would have to be an interesting story, an interesting arc. Something that really moves the story.”

Would you want to see Dominic Monaghan back?

Is Greg Grunberg Returning to Lost?

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

As many viewers of Lost are aware, Greg Grunberg was the pilot of the Oceanic flight that started all these problems for our Losties. The actor is a regular on Heroes, but with the changes that show is making, will he have the time to make an appearance on Lost this coming season or the last one?

This interview from Fancast should provide some clarification — Greg-Grunberg.article

  • TP: J.J. Abrams is your childhood friend and he usually puts you in his projects, so can we expect a cameo from you in his new “Star Trek” movie, especially since your “Heroes” costar Zachary Quinto is playing Spock?
GG: “That’s one question I can not comment on, they won’t allow me to say anything. But I have seen the movie, and it is incredible. I was so happy when I saw it, and I’m not a Trekkie. And I saw it with a Trekkie, a friend of mine Ken, and he freaked out, he was a diehard and he was waiting to HATE it…so people are just gonna freak.”
  • TP: Any chance of us seeing that “Lost” pilot again?
GG: “Well, if he was on ‘Heroes’ he definitely would come back since no one ever dies. [laughs] But I hope so, there’s definitely been talk, they are trying to work out some sort of flashback. I would love to before the show ends–they keep saying they’ve got this big end coming–and I would just love it if it could tie in somehow that I was part of the whole thing, that would be unbelievable! It’s the greatest cameo JJ has ever given me.”

The complete interview, with Greg mostly talking about Heroes, is here.

Photos: Matthew Fox LAX Sighting

Monday, November 24th, 2008

Lost is still filming somewhere in Hawaii and we are thankfully receiving news about what we are supposed to expect of Season 5 little by little, sans the spoilers (which I’ve been doing my best to avoid).

Since it’s the off season, the stars of the series are pretty much flying under the radar (except for a few little sightings and commercial work here and there), Matthew Fox especially…

The other day though, the actor was sighted at the Los Angeles Airport. Whether he was leaving or returning, I’m not too sure. But this sighting means one thing — I’m counting the days till we get more press on Lost and its stars. It’s less than 60 days before the show returns. We’re about to see them all back in the boob tube doing promos very soon!

Yes, Lost is returning! Hopefully to wow us with a wonderful Season 5.

Lost Season 5 Poster

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

This has been making the internet rounds already — the latest poster from Lost.

lost-season-5-print-ad-poster

Fans have putting their thinking caps on, analyzing the hidden messages on this graphic art. Are you doing the same? Are you checking out the tiniest details, like the number 6 on Hurley’s angle of the building? Or the lighting between the two groups? Or that if you fold this poster like you do those Mad Magazines, you would find that Kate and Sawyer are actually looking at each other? Behind Jack’s back? And what is the significance of Miles being in the poster too?

I’m done guessing too much though. It spoils a lot of the show for me and I think I have been doing well avoiding a lot of the major spoilers thus far.

Lost Upcoming Teaser To Air Nov 20th

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

Watch for an upcoming teaser of Lost which should be airing tomorrow during Grey’s Anatomy tomorrow. Here’s another sneak peak of it:

The video teaser will apparently present Ken Leung (Miles) and Jeremy Davies (Daniel Faraday) as series regulars while Emile de Ravin (Claire), Harold Perrineau (Michael) and Daniel Dae Kim (Jin) are off the “regulars” list. But that doesn’t mean they are out of the show for good. (Well maybe except Michael?)

The press release after the jump…

Reiko Aylesworth: What is her Lost Secret?

Monday, November 17th, 2008

With the announcement of Reiko Aylesworth four episode guest appearance on Lost in the upcoming season, there have been a lot of speculations as to what her character is and who she will be attached to. One of the theories speculated is that her character is either 1) someone from Sayid’s future; 2) someone from Sawyer’s future; 3) an old acquaintance of Ben from the Dharma Initiative.

Reiko herself teases us with some of the details in this interview with EW, saying that her character, Amy, not only has one, but many suitors.

  • “I know the show, but I have to say, I didn’t quite understand everything [the writers] were telling me. But it sounds like it’s going to be great stuff. I’m just excited to do something other than getting people files and carrying clipboards [like on 24].There’s definitely some conflict with the suitors.”

A look at Lost’s Past and Future

Monday, November 17th, 2008

lindelof and cuse

Lost Executive Producers and series creators Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof were at the Creative Screenwriting Expo recently and they answered a many questions from the Q & A panel.

Among the things discussed —

  • Lindelof admitted he was initially intimidated by the “insane creative challenges” of Lost, recalling that while they were waiting to hear if the project would be picked up as a series, he had people at the network telling him, “Yeah, the pilot is great, but there’s no series there. How are you going to do this every week?” Lindelof joked that his reply was, “I have no f**ing idea. Please don’t pick it up!”
  • Lost had a very expensive pilot, costing 11.5 million dollars. Cuse and Lindelof recalled that the ABC executive who greenlit it, “knew ABC was going to fire him, so this was sort of his final f**k you to them.”
  • Discussing the flashbacks on the series, Cuse said it was really exciting in the first year, answering the question, “Who are these guys?”, as the flashbacks could reveal big surprises about the character and their history. However, Cuse said eventually the problem became, “There’s only so many revelatory flashbacks,” and that by the time you get to flashbacks answering, “‘Why does Jack have tattoos’ and ‘Why does Desmond call everyone brother’, it’s a fairly good illustration that these flashbacks were running out of steam”
  • Cuse said that while they know the fans love to dissect the mythology, “We probably spend 80% on character, and 20% on mythology,” stressing that he thinks the focus on the characters, is “Why the show crossed over to not being a small genre show.” That being said, he acknowledged, “This year will probably be a little bit more science fictiony.”
  • Lindelof said that when it came to slowly building into more science fiction, “Lost has really been about the long con, because by the time we get to season 6, it’s going to be f**king crazy!”
  • “It’s not like Heroes,” where the future is always something that can be prevented or changed, but in fact on Lost, “There’s nothing you can do to stop it from happening, and the more you try to stop it, the more potential there is for you to be the cause [of that future event].”

The complete panel interview is tackled extensively on IGN. Plus more from the panel interview here. Minor SPOILERS.

Entertainer of the Year: Sun & Kim

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

Entertainment Weekly has picked Daniel Dae Kim and YunJin Kim as two of the 25 Entertainers of The Year. Both landed on the 17th spot:

  • 17. YUNJIN KIM AND DANIEL DAE KIM Once upon a time in the land of Lost, a boy named Jin married a girl named Sun. Alas, they did not live happily ever after: Jin grew distant; Sun became alienated. Then they boarded Oceanic 815, and that didn’t go so well either. The couple’s tenuous relationship played out for years as a nuanced romantic subplot that always felt a tad removed from the other stories on the island. Until season 4, when Lost supercharged the saga of Jin (Daniel Dae Kim) and Sun (Yunjin Kim) so that the story radiated intrigue, redemption, and heartbreak, and plugged them into the greater mythology of the island. ”We have a fan base, but it tended to be fans of romance,” says Daniel. ”The big question was ‘There’s a reason Jin and Sun are here. How important are they to the overall story?’ [Now] we’ve started seeing how we tie in.” — Dan Snierson
