Lost: Moving the island — in time.

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

800px_Christiancabin.jpg

Christian Shepard tells John Locke that in order to save the island, they would have to move the island. The physical move would have to be slightly impossible…so maybe moving meant a move in a different time, not in a different place?

Here’s what I’ve gathered while going over sites and their theories:

  • The shift in time has occurred on the island before.
  • The shift in time involves some seismic activity and as Darlton has mentioned in past interviews, it will happen again.
  • We shall see the purple sky signifying that the island is once again moving with the help of a magnetic force.
  • The move will, of course, make it difficult for anyone to find the island. Which is what future Jack will encounter.

Lost: Questions about Claire’s “death”

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

claire_lost.jpgSo we see Claire chilling out inside Jacob’s cabin, looking very much contented where she is. Is she high on something? Or like Christian, is she a walking undead? If Claire is dead, when did she die?

Did the blast actually get her (The Shape of Things To Come)? After the blast, Claire has been experiencing headaches, which could mean her body isn’t the same anymore. Or was she dead long before that? Is that why Miles was looking at her funny? And is that the reason why Miles let her be with her dad? Because he can listen to what the dead is saying and knows what is happening between Claire and her dad?

If Claire is dead — how come Sawyer was still able to communicate with her?

Australia is the key to the game? What’s that about?

Friday, April 25th, 2008

map_of_australia.gif

Hurley said this on last night’s episode while Locke, Sawyer and him were playing Risk — “Australia is the key to winning the game”? It struck me as odd that he would said that so clearly, it stood out. It was like a hint the writers were dropping on to viewers. Or it could be just something to throw us off (like we’re not so confused by all these questions and theories already!)

And what’s the game? Is it the game that is intensifying between Ben and Widmore? One is trying to find Penny, the other is trying to find the island….who will get there first?

Do you think Widmore is Ben’s constant?

3.2 Million Dollars Theory

Monday, April 7th, 2008

Ben 3.2Million Miles

Remember this scene from the episode, Eggtown? Where Miles talks to Ben for the first time and negotiates a deal with him?

MILES: Do you know who I am?
BEN: Yes.
MILES: Do you know who I work for?
BEN: Yes.
MILES: Then you know he’s put a lot of time and energy into finding you. So now I’ve found you. And I can tell him exactly where you are. Or I can lie, and tell him you were already dead. I’d be willing to do that, for 3.2 million dollars.
BEN: You’ve arranged this meeting so you could blackmail me?
MILES: It’s extortion if you want to get technical.
BEN: 3.2? But why not 3.3 or 3.4?
….
BEN: What makes you think I have access to that kind of money?
MILES: Do not treat me like I’m one of them! Like I don’t know who you are, or what you can do!
BEN: Your friend Charlotte has seen me, she knows I’m alive.
MILES: I’ll take care of Charlotte. You just worry about getting me the money. You have two days.
BEN: My present situation is a little bit restricted. Can that be amended?
MILES: Okay. One week, in cash.

Is Miles actually talking to Ben about money or is this a code?

Some are theorizing it’s a code for the bearing the freighter people or “rescuers” already know. And Miles is passing that information to Ben. Miles may actually be one of Ben’s men.

Remember what Ben told Michael at the end of Season 2, in the episode Live Together, Die Alone?

BEN: I’m not happy about the arrangement that was made with you Michael, but we got more than we bargained for when Walt joined us, so I suppose this is what’s best. And you let me go, set me free—you lived up to your word. We live up to our word, too. Do you know how to drive a boat?
MICHAEL: Yeah, I can drive a boat.
BEN: Good, then you’re going to take this boat and follow a compass bearing of 325, and if you do that exactly, you and your son will find rescue.
MICHAEL: That’s it? I follow the bearing and me and my son get rescued?
BEN: Yes.

Hmmmm…have they figured something out here? Is the theory spot on?

Lost’s Spectacular Kiss

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

From the pages of Lost Magazine comes this reference from Damon Lindelof saying that two characters will be sharing one spectacular kiss at the end of Season 4.

“Romance is always blooming on and off the island. And just for you, I hereby promise you one of the most spectacular kisses you’ve ever seen on the show in this year’s finale.”

Naturally, everyone’s right there with their guesses.

Is it between Jack and Juliet?
Is it between Kate and Sawyer?
Is it between Jack and Kate?
Is it between Jin and Sun?
Is it between Rose and Bernard?
Is it between Mr. Friendly and his Boytoy?
What about Michael and Sun? Hey, I’m just throwing it out there. I came across a theory about Sun’s baby being Michael’s and while that’s so far out there, I realize that anything can happen in Lost, right?

desandpenny.jpg

But who do I really want to share a spectacular kiss? The choice would have to be very obvious — Desmond and Penny! If spectacular was the word they chose to describe the kiss, their scenes in The Constant were exactly that. I can’t think of any other couple coming close to delivering the same impact.I really am expecting Desmond and Penny would finally cross paths and be with each other at the end of Season 4. I would hate to think their meeting would have to drag on till the end of the series in the year 2010.

One thing about the kiss is that it’s supposed to change the course of the remainder of the show, forever. Did I not read somewhere Desmond and Penny would have to play a really significant part in the story of Lost?

What about you, who do you think is the kissing couple?

Lost: Is Sun gonna die?

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

285.lost.kim.042407.jpgThe inevitable death will happen sometime before Episode 8 or 9. According to spoilers, the death would involve one of the original passenger of flight 815 who is also one of the Oceanic 6. He or she will make it off the island but his or her death is going to be a significant one. And yet, like Charlie, this person will still be seen in the future episodes.

Like many others, I initially thought this character would be Jin but something tells me that it could also be Sun. For one thing, their flash forward episode is coming up next week, the exact time this “death” is going to occur (before episode 8 or 9). And we’ve seen snippets of the couple in that Kate-centric episode the other week. Something about their conversation laid out what’s to happen next. They were making plans as to where they were going to raise the baby, so that speaks about hope. And I just feel that the writers won’t bring a happy ending to this and will kill that hope.

I also buy into this theory that states — and I’ll try to keep it brief — all of those on the plane are actually dead in the future, but are presently trapped in a time warp. If and when their present self comes to the future, they will eventually have to meet their fate: death. No passenger on Flight 815 will live past 2004 if they do get off the island. The Q & A section of that site touched on Sun’s pregnancy, stating that she conceived her baby off the island (as opposed to what Juliet told Ben) and will be able to keep her baby and herself alive if she remains there.

For more drama, I’ll bravely guess Sun will die giving birth off the island.

What are your thoughts?

Lost Scoop Spilled by Show’s Producers

Monday, February 25th, 2008

250px_Season4promo.jpg

This is rather a belated report but I’m putting it up anyway, in case you haven’t been able to keep tabs of this last week. It’s an interview EW’s Doc Jensen conducted with Lost Producers, Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof. I have to say, I didn’t read all the way through because I would like my Lost experience the least bit spoiler free (which is sometimes hard to do, since I’m blogging about it!).Anyway, here are some excerpts from that interview:

Lost: A detailed explanation to the time travel theory

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

Mother of all theories, my head hurts from reading this one from the Time Loop Theory website! Whew! The stipulations they have explained are very easy to follow, but difficult to digest…in the brain.

Some of the theories they’ve come up with are these —

Lost: Just Who is Going To Die in Season 4?

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

jinart.jpgOkay, I’m not saying Jin is going to die, I don’t have correct information on that. But all that talk about major characters dying in the fourth season has led others to theorize Daniel Dae Kim’s character on Lost is going to get the boot soon, simply because he got caught by the police and is slapped with a DUI charge in Honolulu. If we’re to base the show’s history, three other characters have been removed from the show (i.e. killed off) and they all had something in common — a DUI charge.

When I read that news about Kim, I thought the same, like most people. But no one has actually come forward with a definite account. Information about who dies is, of course, a well-guarded secret. What spoilers sites do have are the following information.

  • TV Guide: 01/30 - I’m hearing that a significant death occurs sometime after Episode 4, but before Episode 8. Kate and Sawyer will have one innocent night of canoodling.
  • TV Guide: 12/26 - There will be at least two deaths in the first eight episodes.
  • GDA interview of Elizabeth Mitchell - “There are still lots of people left to die. There are many deaths… people exploding and things like that.”
  • TV Guide: 10/24 - Rumors about a death occurring during the first half of the season are unequivocally, 100 percent true.
  • The Fuselage: 10/14 - Jorge Garcia confirmed that there would be another death this season.

So, Lost fans — who do you think it is going to die? And if it were actually Jin, would you have liked that idea?

Is Michael Coming Back?

Monday, July 9th, 2007

That’s the $64,000 question! Okay, maybe it’s not that important, but it’s a question that’s been weighing on all Lost fans’ minds throughout the 3rd season. The last we saw of Michael and Walt, they were sailing off on a boat at the end of season 2 leaving Kate, Sawyer, Jack, and Hurley at the mercy of “The Others”. We naturally assumed that Michael and Walt would sail back to the mainland and try to find help for his friends back on the island.
In drops Naomi at the end of season 3 with the news that everyone believes the passengers of Flight 815 are dead. Where does that leave Michael and Walt? Did they shipwreck on yet another island? Was the boat rigged so that they never made it home? Or maybe they just slunk back into normal life, forgetting all about their stranded friends.
Somehow, I doubt the Lost producers will keep us in the dark forever about what happened. It’s too big a storyline with too many unanswered questions to just let it slide and hope the fans forget a la daytime soap operas.
I was excited to see Walt, much older and taller looking, appear to John as John was fighting for his life after Ben shot him. A big reason why Malcome David Kelley hasn’t returned as Walt. While it may be only a matter of months on the island for the Lostaways, it’s been years for the actors. Unlike the adults of the cast whose appearance varies little from season to season, the kids grow and change. Kind of hard to explain how Walt, a 10 year old little boy, has such a deep voice after only a few months!
Will Harrold Perrineau come back as Micheal for season 4? Word has it he’s talking with Lost producers. Nothing’s official… as of yet. But I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

212 Days until Season 4 Premier!

Comments about “Greatest Hits”

From Pop Candy:

froglegggz wrote:
The rain scene with desmond from before and this latest charlie street singing scene were not one in the same…

Taken from http://lost.cubit.net/viewEgg.php?id=289

we see Charlie in his flashback standing on a corner, performing an Oasis song when he is interrupted by a sudden downpour. At first look, it seems this is the same scene from Flashes Before Your Eyes. But if so, where is Desmond? On closer inspection, however, it is evident we are witnessing two separate, but independent events. Charlie’s shirt is different, he doesn’t appear to have the sign, the surrounding buildings are different (although there is a NewsAgent stand in both, the font is different on the two stands).

Nickan8r71 wrote:
Here’s something to ponder…Everyone is so focused on the second women who came out pointig a gun at Charlie, but what about the first one, the blond? If you put her possible true identity together with my previous theory that the Looking Glass station’s inhabitants are original Dharma, what could you get?

You get that the Blond woman in the Looking Glass hatch could be Ben’s childhood friend. The one who gave him the wooden doll.

After last week, everyone was left wondering if Ben ended up gassing her too, but what he she stowed away in the underwater hatch?

Sister Carrie wrote:
A bit of irony that Liam gave Charlie the ring because Charlie was the responsible one, the one most likely to get married and have kids (heirs to pass the ring on to). Instead, Liam straightens up, gets married and has a kid (if my memory serves me), and Charlie becomes the junkie. Wonder why Liam never asked for the ring back after they switched roles and Charlie became the prodigal son. Interestingly enough, a ring figures significantly into the prodigal son story (from the parable); it is among the gifts the father gives the wayward son when he returns home repentant.

Kid_Ego wrote:
I think I have this whole “why wasn’t Desmond there when Charlie was singing in the rain” thing figured out. Someone earlier posted (page 23 maybe) that the flashbacks we saw this week were actually memories that Charlie was having causing him to write his “Greatest Hits”. The reason Desmond wasn’t present there in that version of the scene was because Charlie just didn’t remember him. Who’s going to remember some random guy coming up to you on the street asking some absurd question of “don’t I know you”? Charlie’s memory of that event differs from Desmond because Desmond was actually having a flash of the past/present/future and remembers the details very vividly. The lapse in Charlie’s memory would also explain the change in clothing and where it was performed on the street as some people have noticed the buildings around him are also different. All Charlie needed to remember about that event was that he was playing Wonderwall and it started to rain. Our perceptions of events are only what we make them out to be so it’s completely plausible that Charlie’s version of that moment and Desmond’s version are both correct.

Theory time!

Monday, May 14th, 2007

Thanks to AmyD for sending me this link. Here’s a theory about who Annie (Ben’s Dharma friend) really is. I’m not sure any of this has been really confirmed by the producers, but it’s an interesting theory. Check it out here.

Fans’ comments on “The Man Behind the Curtain”

Monday, May 14th, 2007

Here’s some of the comments gathered from Pop Candy. There are really some great thoughts!

lkagop wrote:
This is probably a really bad idea, but here goes: Locke heard Jacob say, “Help me.” After Ben shot Locke, he asked him what Jacob said. We hear Locke cry out - repeating what Jacob told him - the words “help me.”

There’s a theory about Jacob being Locke - just in the future. One poster mentioned being able to stop the DVR so as to catch a glance of Jacob looking like an older Locke with longer hair.

So, when Locke hears Jacob speak, is he really hearing his own words from a few minutes in the future?

Indylost wrote:
Richard knows Ben is no longer what he used to be. Perhaps there was some sort of island prophecy(biblical reference to Christ) that a “saviour” would come to the native islanders, Richard’s people. When he first met Ben as a child and he found out he could see his dead mother, that was the sign they were looking for. When Ben grew older and his rage against his father grew and he killed him, the island stripped him of his powers.

Ben is jealous of Locke’s abilities and he wanted Locke to kill Cooper thinking the island would strip Locke’s abilities away just like it did his. However, Richard intervened and gave Locke the info on Sawyer, thus preserving Locke’s powers.

Ben may have at one time been able to hear or even see Jacob, but he no longer can. This is why he was asking Locke what Jacob said to him. And now that Ben has shot Locke, the island will again take action against Ben.

As many other people have posted, Locke was NOT shot in the heart and he will not die. I’d be willing to be that bullet WOULD HAVE killed him had he still had that kidney there….Re: Ben out of favor with the Island? A coupe is brewing… Richard and his group are now realizing that Locke is the one they’ve been waiting for, not Ben. Ben is a false idol.

kad wrote:
Two things stand out to me, after only being able to read only half of the posts (sorry if I repeat): 1. Something is really fishy about Richard – and not just because it seems he doesn’t age. He has this quiet patience and authority that is disconcerting, and apparently, he is very convincing. He convinced Ben to kill his dad, lead the Purge, and lead the Others; he convinced Locke that his dad had to die, and encouraged him to remain with the Others; he convinced Juliette to come to the island (after the unique death of her ex).

Also it hits me, that other than the instance when Juliette drank the drugged orange juice, I have never seen Richard talk to more than one person. Every conversation he has (specifically, on the island) is one-on-one and usually it is some pretty powerful persuasion he is laying down.

To me: Richard is a hallucinatory tool of Jacob.

Remember, Sawyer saw Kate’s horse some time back. Just more proof that the hallucinations are more than just individual manifestations.

2. Rousseau’s timeline may have put her on the island when they gassed the Dharma people. Didn’t she say she has been crashed on the island for around ten years? I theorize the death of her crew was simply a situation of wrong place / wrong time and the remnant toxins made her group sick. As we have seen with the Claire/Juliette scam, the ’sickness’ doesn’t really exist, but for Rousseau, it was very real. Desmond was told about the sickness, which is too coincidental to be completely fabricated, but ultimately the island was all clear after some time.

navtrav wrote:
jkhami, I’m really liking your theory on Jacob being John’s twin brother, the “Bad Twin.” It fits so much. Here are my thoughts: 1. As you alluded to the Jacob of the Bible was a con man and swindled the inheritance from his brother Essau.

2. Jacob’s brother Essau was known as a “hunter” and one who preferred the outdoor life. John has been called a hunter and loves the natural state of the island.

3. John’s mother referred to his birth as miraculous - I don’t think we have the whole story about his dad being Aaron.

4. Jacob and John seem to have a similar connection to the island and there were several references last night to Jacob having the same attitude about technology as John.

5. The profile of Jacob, though very dark, could certainly be the same actor as Terry O’Quinn (Locke) and apparently the producers have said that Jacob has already been cast…

6. John’s last name is Locke which I know may refer to the philosopher, however I’ve always wondered if the producers were telling us that John’s character is KEY to the mysteries of the island. If he and Jacob were brother’s, that would make him pretty key.

There are many more here if you have time to check them out!
