Lost Producer to Make Earthquakes
JJ Abrams is moving from Lost, to Fringe, to Star Trek and then to making the earth move. He is working with David Seltzer, who wrote the first Omen movie, to bring a disaster flick about earthquakes.
The Lost producer, who is currently doing the final touches to his Star Trek movie (one of this year’s highly anticipated film, I should add), does not want this to be a remake of the 70’s movie with the same title and was quite a popular one back then. The movie even branched out to become a very popular studio attraction.
Details to JJ Abrams Earthquake are still sketchy. There isn’t even a title considered at the moment.
The Hollywood Reporter, via Reuters, adds: as is Abrams’ modus operandi, relationships will be at the core of the project. Abrams arguably rewrote the rules for disaster flicks with the winter box office champ “Cloverfield,” which thrust the big story to the background by making the audience see the bedlam through the prism of a personal relationship.
