Lost Recap - The Man Behind the Curtain (May 9)

by Holli

Sorry for the delay. It’s been one heck of a day!

Okay, so Ben was NOT born on the island. He’s such a liar. He was born near Portland. Do we know if that’s Oregon or Maine?? He came to the island when he was a little boy. He came with his dad, who turns out to be Roger-Work Man, and his dad worked for the Dharma Initiative. But Ben’s dad was so ridiculously lousy to Ben, and Ben ends up working with the “Hostiles” to kill all of the Dharma people, including his own father. Richard Alpert is Ben’s initial contact with the Hostiles. And it seems that Richard does not age because he looks to be the same age now as when Ben was a little boy. So, Ben becomes one of the Hostiles, who we now know as the Others.

I’m really a little disappointed with the whole Jacob thing. The writers are going to have to prove themselves with the Jacob storyline because I have to admit, I’m a little weirded out by where this might be going. But I’ll trust that they know what they’re doing for a little while. What did you guys think of the whole talking-to-the-empty-chair thing? I just found it a little ridiculous, but, of course, I haven’t gone back and watched it in slow motion. Maybe that will make a difference. And why does Alex give Locke a gun to go see Jacob?

When Mikhail tells Ben about Naomi, Ben seems surprised. So that makes me think that maybe Naomi is telling the truth and that she wasn’t an Others’ plant. We’ll see soon, I guess.

Juliet has been telling Jack everything she’s been doing, but I’m still not sure we can trust her. Jack said that he hadn’t told all the rest of them what was going on because he hasn’t “figured out what to do yet.” Not sure what he means by that…

And at the end Ben shoots Locke! Surely, Locke isn’t one of the five we’re going to lose this season! I will admit that I was completely shocked by that, so good for the writers there. But, still, we can’t lose Locke just yet, can we??

What did you guys think??

  1. Jeff Davis Says:

I have to admit, the Jacob scene had me wondering if Ben was a complete loon. Until the telekinesis started happening.

The island seems to be a great place to be if you’re a guy. If you’re a female, and wanting children…not so much.

I’m exceptionally slow, so I didn’t realize Ben was going to shoot Locke until Locke realized it. I’ll bet that Locke recovers though.
