More hints…
Again, if you don’t want to know, then stop reading!
The Tail Section speculates a little more about what’s in store for tonight’s big Fall Season Finale.
After episode 6 the action shifts back to island with some fundamental changes. This means something BIG is going to happen in episode six. Perhaps along the lines of changing our perception of our friends and their “enemies” forever.
Much of what has gone on with Kate, Sawyer, and Jack has seemed pointless up to now. We know Ben has this tumor in need of Dr. Jack’s expert surgical abilities, we can assume that Kate and Sawyer were brought along to coerce Jack If he is unwilling to perform the surgery. Surely he would do it to protect his friends. As it turns out now, it looks more like Jack agrees simply because he can’t face the fact that Kate has chosen Sawyer. A clip released yesterday reveals that Ben agrees to arrange Jack’s return to civilization if he performs the surgery.
What about Juliet’s plot to kill Ben. In Jack’s mind he now has two options for escape. Juliet has said she will protect him. But would Juliet be so willing to allow Jack his freedom? We still don’t know what it is the others are up to on this island, but they seem to want to stay there. Maybe eliminating Ben would just allow more extreme factions to take control.
Can Juliet be trusted? Is the tumor even real? Could it be that they needed to convince Jack of something, something he will only know when his scalpel slices Ben open. Why did Ben put himself in personal danger to infiltrate the 815′rs camp? Was the journey really just a ploy to get him close the source of the islands healing powers? Is the surgery just their way of showing Jack he is in the presence of an extraordinary force? Why do they need Jack, if it is? Something they learned from their association with “the monster”? Some piece of information it “downloaded” from Jack while he was laying in the bamboo grove after the crash? Something it got from his fathers corpse? Something he doesn’t even know…
Speaking of smokey, there is no indication at this point that he is a menace to the others at all; wouldn’t that seem to indicate that he is one of them?
Whatever event it is that is going to change the show so fundamentally is clearly not evident in any of the promotional material released so far. Jack does perform the surgery, Kate has surely chosen Sawyer, and it looks like Sawyer may be in danger. Of the official releases on the final scene a lot seems to indicate it will concern someone we care about who’s fate will be hanging in the balance when the episode closes.
Okay, digest this information, and hit me with your thoughts.
