The end of Lost
It’s not any time soon, thank goodness. As they’ve desired to do, (and as I discussed here earlier this year) the producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof have negotiated with ABC for an “end date” for the series. Lost will air for three more seasons, with 16 episodes each season. The season will also be uninterrupted, without a crazy hiatus. That’s good news to me. According to TV Guide,
Lindelof tells the Hollywood Reporter that setting an end date is “incredibly liberating. Like we’ve been running a marathon and we actually know where the finish line is, for the first time.” Adds Cuse, “We can now really map out the rest of the series in confidence. We sort of view Lost as a mosaic. Now there are only 48 more tiles that go into that mosaic, and we’re figuring out… exactly where they all go.”
I’m very happy knowing that the producers will be able to finish the series as they have always planned to. This way we know that the series won’t just be canceled in the middle of a season without any kind of resolution. Maybe other shows will take notice of Lost’s foresight. It can only make for better television.

See, i’m glad they picked an end date. But 3 more seasons??? I love this show. I really do. But originally, the plan was to make the series around 100 episodes, and not they’re going to make it around 120 episodes. In my opinion, wrap it up in 2 seasons. I just feel like they’re going to string us along and drag their feet trying to fill extra time.
I must say though, that after the past 8 episodes have been so enjoyable, i’ll keep faith that the writers can keep it going till the end. Let’s all hope so…

Joshy - I think the interview Holli posted after this one clarifies the 3 seasons vs. 2 seasons situation.
The interview is great, and makes a lot of sense. And of course, they are sarcastic as always.
Also, end date? It makes me sad, but at the same time, happy that I’ll know answers by the time I’m 25.
PS. I’m so scared about who is going to die this season! I have my favorites of course and may cry if they are the ones!
