Lost Actors as Students
With school starting in a couple of days, I thought it would be great to look at our favorite TV star’s educational background and see how they are as students. Are they geniuses in school? Slackers? Nerds? Popular guys? School bullies? Where did their interest lie and was it originally related to their jobs as actors now?
Kids look up to celebrities for many reasons, but seldom do fans like us take inspiration from these stars when it comes to school work. And why should we not? Maybe after reading this, we’d see these actors in a refreshingly different light.
Matthew Fox was an Economics degree holder from Columbia. He got in on a football scholarship and was a frat member. He studied acting for two years after which and was discovered via modeling. He also underwent post-graduate studies in Deerfield Academy (Massachusetts).
Evangeline Lilly studied at the University of British Columbia with a degree in International Relations. Modeling formed part of what paid for her college tuition. While in college, she was a human-rights activist and was in the committee for human rights and anti-poverty.
Michael Emerson graduated in college in 1976 in Drake Universiy, earning himself a degree in Theatre with Minor in Art. He later pursued a career in acting and also kept a stable job as a teacher. He has a Masters Degree in Fine Arts.
Elizabeth Mitchell studied in a school for arts, rather than academics in high school. She then later attended Stephens College with a degree in Fine Arts. Among her other special talents include familiarity with hand to hand combat and dagger.
Josh Holloway went to University of Georgia for one year, after dropping out to pursue modeling. He is a skilled in martialo parts. He grew up with three other brothers who are considered intellectuals, but Josh was never really interested in books (ironically, Sawyer is. Hah.)
Jorge Garcia is a graduate of UCLA with a degree in Communications. In high school, the faculty awarded him as the Triton of the Year, said to be the highest recognition at his school. He was also in the wrestling team.
Terry O’ Quinn was a percussionist in high school and is musically inclined. He is a graduate of the University of Iowa.
Henry Ian Cusick is trained at The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
Yunjin Kim moved with her family in America when she was about ten years old. Juggling between her academics and learning the English language, she attended the New York High School of Performing Arts and earned her Fine Arts degree at Boston University. She also studied in London’s Oxford University. She is a trained dancer (ballet and jazz) and is skilled in Tae Kwan Do.
Daniel Dae Kim has a Political Science and Theater Arts degree from Haverford College. He also has a Masters in Acting from NYU. As a young kid, he was very much a boy scout and was also a sports buff. He also studied tap dancing.
